In January of 1993 I came across the photo of a young girl at the beach on what appeared to be a dreary day. As I pondered on why she had chosen to go to the beach on such a day, the lyrics began rushing through my mind; so fast, I nearly fell over. I quickly began writing them down as I repeated them over and over in my mind. A short while later I was at my keyboard working on the basic melody and chord structure. The total time spent writing this song was only about 20 minutes; making it the fastest that I had ever written a song. I had always wanted to write a song with strong lyrics and a "haunting" melody so I am forever grateful for the inspiration of this song.
